CLOSED BORDER TECHNIQUE

Closed/Edge Border Technique

The closed border is a deepened line that defines the edge of the working surface. The working surface, or stippling surface, is shaved out to provide a recessed appearance relative to the remainder of the firearm’s stock grip.

LINE BORDER

The deepened border line is maintained between the firearm’s stock surface and the stippling texture.

EDGE BORDER

The stippling texture is done up to the edge of the deepened border line.

Open Border Technique with Cut Lines

The open border is an edge defined by the stipple texture. The working surface, or stippling surface, is sanded to provide an even working surface before stippling. This technique enables the stippling texture to protrude in relation to the firearm’s stock surface; providing a more aggressive grip and allowing the artist more polymer to work with for grip modifications.

CUT LINES

To break up the stipple surface, the artist can add cut lines at natural surface breaks along the grip.
